On November 10th the EPA issued a final ICR (Information Collection Request) aimed at gathering information to help draft new regulations surrounding the reduction of methane emissions from existing sources in the oil and gas industry.
The final ICR consists of 2 parts, a survey of readily available information and sampling survey of existing facilities. Operators will have 60 days to respond to part 1, and 180 days for part 2. Not everyone will be selected for part 2 since 10% of wells will be chosen for sampling at random.
Notification letters were sent out this week so time quickly is ticking.
