Once your well starts producing natural gas there are two main things you need to know: how much am I producing and what’s the content? The meter tells you how much, but keeping it reading accurately requires regular calibration. Regular testing of the gas content lets you know the exact percentage of billable product you’re putting into the line.
We hear from our clients all the time about how pleased they are that we combine on-site gas testing and calibration in one trip. Here’s what they appreciate about that:
- We get both done in a single trip to the well, saving time and trip charges
- Our onboard gas chromatograph gives us an answer in about 15 minutes—there’s no waiting a week or more for results from a lab.
- We can enter the gas analysis results in the meter or email the report to the client onsite
- We can collect other types of samples when we are on location, like pressurized or unpressurized oil, water or soil.
And yes, there are a few tests that just have to be done in the lab. For example, when you need to know your oil composition we do those in the lab—but we get them back to you as quickly as we can.
We’ve been really careful to staff our lab with fully trained experts—with PhD.s, engineers, chemists and other scientists—and a full complement of state-of-the-art equipment. Our field personnel and equipment are also top-of-the-line. Wherever we perform your tests, we want to make sure we get you the exact information you need when you need it.
If we discover anything that’s outside of normal parameters, such as a significant change in gas content or a meter issue, we report that immediately to your measurement supervisor or whoever you designate. We want to streamline the process for you as much as possible so you can concentrate on your core business.
We’re also all about simplicity. We assign a single project manager to each client. We have a number of clients who’ve turned this whole process completely over to us so they never have to worry about it. Their project manager makes sure the Zedi team does the tests and furnishes the reports on the schedule the client has set.
Having a project manager also means our clients know exactly who to call when they have a question or when there are wells to add or subtract from the list. There’s never a need to wonder about who to call with questions about reports, schedules or anything else. We are here to help you!
We do these tests at the meter, at custody transfer points or anywhere they’re needed. Custody transfer sites are particularly critical because both parties want to verify quality and quantity in order to guarantee accurate payment.
Any well that’s on government property must supply this information to the Bureau of Land Management at specified intervals. This is particularly common out west.
Here’s what I think is great about all this:
We’re just the right size company for every client. We’re big enough to hire only the best-trained and qualified staff and to provide a wide range of services. We’re small and nimble enough that we can make our own decisions locally, to help our clients get the results they need when they need them.
