Canadian oil and gas producer, who explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids
CHALLENGE
With limited staff it was crucial to better manage the talented labor this oil and gas producer did have available. They needed to lower rising operating costs and wasted people hours involved with unnecessary asset maintenance work.
Asset and equipment maintenance was happening not out of need, but out of ‘set schedule’ that was not designed from actual true data, but rather by ‘we’ve always done it this way’. This work needed to be better managed and was stretching the skilled people they had on staff.
Asset spec sheets and manuals had no where to ‘live’ for ease of access in the field and it was just as difficult to track them down in the office which wasted time and raised frustrations.
Current SCADA in place was unable to deliver the actionable data they needed to attain to determine when actual maintenance should happen, and schedule it accordingly.
