CUSTOMER

Large US-based industrial petroleum manufacturer and distributor of automotive and fleet lubricants that supplies lubricant additives to thousands of customers in the US and throughout the world.

CHALLENGE

Having five separate facilities that all have tanks in different locations, making it difficult to track current inventory.

The company needed a cloud-based platform that could automate daily operations by keeping track of on-site fluid inventory remotely at other locations for both the company and their existing customers.

The customer wanted to visualize data points, including tank levels, usage volume, and fluid temperatures all in one place from anywhere, at anytime. The customer required a mobile app that offered clear and easy to understand dashboards with alarm management capabilities to improve operational efficiencies.

SOLUTION

This customer quickly understood the value that Emerson’s Zedi Cloud SCADA offered. Our team rapidly installed the communications package, by tying into an existing Rosemount 1410 Gateway, to monitor wireless tank level transmitters at five facilities through Emerson’s Zedi Cloud SCADA platform.

The automated tank monitoring is now enabling their personnel and their permission-based customers to easily monitor select tanks from anywhere with simple, easy to read data. Their visibility has significantly improved with sensor points showing their current volume, temperatures, and levels.

The customer quickly gained access to real-time data for remote monitoring and control of tank inventory at all facilities, all in a single, easy to understand,and accurate source.

Zedi Data Exchange was an added feature that allows their customers to create data pushes into their product ordering platform, simplifying and automating a stronger workflow.

With Zedi Access alarm notifications setup to exact thresholds, the company will never miss changes in inventory or fluctuations in temperature—they can now setup customized high-level and low-level alarms for each tank’s volumes and temperatures.

Clear, easy to understand dashboards provide a vivid and accurate summary of tank information for all five facilities. The dashboard method of reviewing details and viewing the status of operations provides a significant opportunity for the customer to be more efficient while enabling them to respond faster to any potential problems or opportunities.

Comprehensive training was provided to the company’s staff with our ‘always on’ 24/7 continuous service support.

Our Zedi Go Mobile App gives authorized employees the ability to view tank stats on the go from any smartphone device. Customers can now remotely monitor tank data from anywhere, improving operational efficiencies. In addition, customers are also reselling this Emerson solution to many of their customers.
