CHALLENGE
Texas based, privately held acquisition and production company specializing in enhancing the production of marginal gas wells, required a new SCADA system to tighten security and get new features and options to their people to easily get actionable data where ever they may be working.
Their current SCADA vendor had a legacy system that was not being fully supported in any way; it had not been updated in some time, no new development had taken place in years and it certainly did not offer tight security to meet the demands of today.
The market conditions caused them to look for the most economical solution while maintaining their current operational procedures, and they hoped to keep as much of their current hardware in place as possible to avoid added expenses of updating equipment in the field that they already owned, and was in perfect working condition.
SOLUTION
After a detailed look into where the friction was happening and what the company was experiencing for bottlenecks it was clear that visibility into remotely located assets was a struggle and getting the right data to the right people was not easy, or accessible from outside the main office.
We migrated their entire legacy SCADA system and we were able to communicate with all of their current (other branded) hardware in the field that was invested in just five years ago. Since our SaaS SCADA is hardware agnostic it can communicate with any device at site.
Emerson’s Zedi SaaS SCADA provided a complete solution including secure data management, advanced analytics, our mobile app; Zedi Go and project management to get it all done on time and on budget.
Zedi Go enabled their field personnel the ability to ‘see’ which sites needed maintenance and were also able to input field data directly from their phones into the app; that was also enabling the office workers to gain the same level of visibility to strengthen operations from every level and angle.
Specifically, reduced downtime quickly increased production through optimization (plunger lift) and increased employee ability to ‘see’ the right data from anywhere; even in the middle of ‘nowhere’.
Cyber security was also instantly heavily increased and their IT was then able to focus on higher value projects for the business.
This ease and speed of implementation, ability to gain data insights and analytics with the latest version of secure software while bringing their internal communications to the next level quickly began a long term partnership that remains strong today with growth increases every year.
