Improve internal communications via cloud-based measurement schematics

Posted by Chris Quigley on Feb 25, 2021 12:15:00 PM

Measurement schematics is a useful software as a service (SaaS) tool to improve the communication between your field operations, production, and accounting team. Schematics help track the flow of production and troubleshooting measurement issues.

From my experience, most schematics drawings are saved in area files on a company’s network drives with limited accessibility to other people that need access to them. With no server to purchase or software to install or maintain, our team can quickly integrate Emerson's Zedi Measurement Schematics application within Emerson's Zedi cloud based platform that's scalable for remote SCADA monitoring and control of field devices.

Rod pump monitoring and control with artificial intelligence

Posted by Igor Shulyatikov on Feb 17, 2021 11:45:00 AM

Monitoring and controlling the traditional pump jacks you see bowing and rising along oilfield roads has some limitations. But today, through digital transformation, we’re using data to improve management of all wells, including the rod-pumped variety.

A flowing well with a low gas-to-oil ratio needs little hands-on management, but you still need to track production and watch for pump failures or rod parts. Remote monitoring removes the need for a pumper to visually inspect the site daily—and it removes the chances that the well could break down right after he drives away, leaving it unproductive for a day or so.

Meet pipeline leak detection regulations using the cloud

Posted by Community Contributor on Feb 10, 2021 11:30:00 AM

United States pipeline operators are no doubt aware of the recent regulations that expand the requirements for installing leak detection systems.

Briefly, the US Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) rule change covers a lot of areas, including the extension of the required “use of leak detection systems beyond HCAs to all regulated hazardous liquid pipelines, except for offshore gathering and regulated rural gathering pipelines. The use of such systems will help mitigate the effects of hazardous liquid pipeline failures that occur outside of HCAs,” according to the PHSMA website.

Progressing with IIoT on the cloud

Posted by Julian Sanchez on Sep 23, 2020 1:15:00 PM

For many E&P companies considering field automation, it may seem that installing a SCADA system gives them all the information, alarms and control they need to reach the real goals, which include boosting production and reducing costs. And SCADA does help, but not nearly as much as installing automation through the Cloud.

In this ever-increasing digital world, people and companies rely more and more on the Cloud for data storage and integration. IIoT brings that missing piece where field data and process data can join the rest of your information on the Cloud.

Effectively merge SCADA data

Posted by Amy Thibault on Sep 9, 2020 12:15:00 PM

Mergers and acquisitions are a part of life in the oil patch in any economic environment.

Sometimes those transactions are fast and furious making our heads spin because of the amount of opportunity they can quickly deliver.

The steps taken after the sales transaction has occurred are what really determines the value of the long term return. Sure it was hard work putting the 'deal' together and making sure everything was in alignment before you even signed the dotted line. But, as with so many things in life, that was just the beginning of way more work, way more time, and way more attention needed to every detail to be sure the true value is realized and your previous efforts (and money) were well spent.

Quickly remedy wellsite production problems

Posted by Ed Moore on Mar 5, 2018 11:45:00 AM

“Dear Producer,” the email should read. “I want to tell you about a problem I have on well number 10. It’s—well, it’s just not producing like it should. I think there may be a liquid loading problem. In truth, this has been building up for a while, and I was afraid something like this would happen. What should we do?”

I don’t know if you ever read advice columns, where people write in and ask for help with relationship issues. Sometimes it’s interesting to see what the columnist has to offer as a solution.
